Denethor II the 26th and final ruling Steward of Gondor.

"No tomb for Denethor and Faramir. No long, slow sleep of death embalmed. We shall burn, like the heathen kings of old. Bring wood and oil. "

"You think you are wise, Mithrandir. Yet for all your subtleties, you have not wisdom. Do you think the eyes of the White Tower are blind? I have seen more than you know. With your left hand you would use me as a shield against Mordor, and with your right you would seek to supplant me. I know who rides with Theoden of Rohan. Oh, yes. Word has reached my ears of this Aragorn, son of Arathorn, and I tell you now, I will not bow to this Ranger from the North, last of a ragged house long bereft of lordship! "

Concerning Hobbits !

German poster advertising the forthcoming movie of JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit.

I consider myself a fan of the Tolkien genre, I also consider myself to be a bit of a Lord of the Rings nut, hence the reason why I changed my blog, to make it more Tolkienesq. I read The Lord of the Rings on a yearly basis, and I have left The Hobbit on the book shelf for to long. Now I intend to reread the book as I am afraid that I have become caught up in Hobbit mania, (thank you Peter Jackson).

I have not read The Hobbit since I was a young lad of 14, now I want to reread it as I can't remember much about it, the only thing that ever stayed with me was the meeting of Biblo and Gollum, everything else is an abstract blur. I think today I will find a cheap copy of it and give it a stab. I never really considered it to be the best of Tolkien's work, indeed I prise the Lord of the Rings and The Simirillion above all his works.

I am now prepared to reread The Hobbit, I hope that I will be presently surprised, perhaps deep down I always considered it to be a book for children, and this snobbishness has prevented me from taking it seriously.
